FAIRFIELD GOES DOWN WITH A FIGHT TO THE END!

6 Mar 2014 by Fairfield Cricket Club

Unfortunately things didnt go to plan in the last round for season 2013-14
and the firsts just missed out on a place in the finals by percentage only.

In a hard fought match, that they needed to win, they just ran out of time
to get enough runs on the board.

It was great to see a bit of the fighting Fairfield spirit of old come back
into the game with everyone giving 100% to try and secure the win.

Congratulations to Darren Turner on his first 100 for the club.

Back home at Fairfield Park the seconds remained winless for the season
but pulled out their biggest “Ace” for the season with the return to the field
of everybodys favourite John Borg.

Unfortunately for Borgy, who was decked out immaculately in new runners,
pants and shirt for his big comeback, things didnt go to plan and he pulled
a hammy early on the first day and had to leave the ground.

He was put straight into a vigorous rehab program, which enabled
him to take the field on the second day of the match and helped
Fairfield seconds notch up their highest score for the season with
his unbeaten 3 not out.

A big thanks to Ian Steer, who came down to watch on day one
and ended up subbing for most of the afternoon.

Well done to everyone that has contributed in some way this season,
when things looked really down and out it was great to see so many
past players put their hands up to help out.

As always your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.
